Carl Malcolm

Born July 1952 in the small town of Black River, in the parish of St. Elizabeth on the south-coast of Jamaica, West Indies, Carl Malcolm  was drawn to music as a young boy and taught himself to play the keyboard (by ear) in his local Presbyterian Church. He was quite gifted and his musical talent was recognized by those around him from an early age.

After graduating from St. Elizabeth Technical High School in Santa Cruz, he moved to Kingston and soon established himself as a popular singer, fronting for several respected bands for several years. His recording career began in the early 1970’s during which he dominated the Reggae chart worldwide, with such huge hits as “NO JESTERING”, “HEY FATTY BUM BUM” and “MISS WIRE WAIST” etc…

Carl migrated to the U.S in the late 1970’s and has resided in the Washington DC area, continuing his musical career and churning out great songs. A consummate and lifelong entertainer, he is lead-singer of his own “Positive Vibration” Reggae Band and continues to perform, record and publish sweet Reggae music.

A respected senior-member of the Washington DC area Reggae music community, Carl is a supporter of the aims and objectives of the Reggae One Love Movement and is honored to serve as the organization’s founding Director of Performing Artist Affairs.
